![]() ![]() Strong enemies are no stranger in Witcher 3 on the highest and second highest difficulties, but it's the mechanics of these fights that feel untested and cruel. The latter half of the expansion has a few boss fights that are some of the most frustrating and poorly designed fights in the series. The writing kind of drops off after a bit, before coming back strong in the last minutes. I found however, that the expansion's latter half isn't nearly as intriguing as its first. It's more high quality writing that we've all come to expect from the Witcher series and I especially loved the first half of the expansion. The expansion also brings back one of Geralt's old love interests, Shani, who is charming and also quite well written. Gaunter O'Dimm in particular is a fascinating character that really commands some presence, despite his normal appearance. Hearts of stone's strength, just like the main game, is in its storytelling and character writing. I personally prefer the old sign selection menu, but it's not really much of a downgrade, just an aesthetic preference. First, there is a new rune crafting mechanic that allows you to further enhance your weapons more than in the main game, and this was the expansion that brought a new interface to the signs and secondary items. It is a well told tale that continues the wonderful storytelling and world of the Witcher 3, while also bringing a couple new things to the table. Everec is a despicable man, who gives Geralt three impossible tasks: Show his brother the time of his life, but his brother is dead, bring him someone else's house, and give him the very rose that Olgierd had given his wife years ago, though she is dead and the rose is long since decomposed. He curses Geralt with a brand on his face that can only be removed by Geralt fulfilling three wishes for one Olgierd Von Everec. 14h PlayedHearts of stone tells an interesting story of Geralt falling into debt of a very dangerous man named Gaunter O'Dimm, or Master Mirror, the Man of Glass. ![]()
